Gameplay
Beginner protection will now be applied to newly registered players on all worlds. This protection will last for 24 hours on Classic Worlds and 12 hours on Speed Worlds. Going forward, we can easily tune these numbers subject to player feedback. Players under beginner protection cannot be the target of any mission types during this window.
The protected player can freely raid Scuttlers, but cannot send missions to other players unless they want to exit protection early. If the protected player wishes to opt out, they can target an external player with a mission at which point they will be prompted with a confirmation to end beginner protection early.
We'll be looking into adding some kind of visual indicator for beginner protection soon. Fortune is a system that's been active in the background and is now linked into the battle reports alongside the new Research building functionality. Fortune is a -15% to +15% random swing that will boost or diminish combat efficacy for the attacking army only. Your 'Tech Level' is combined with this value. We have some other exciting systems in development that will further synergise with this. Healing is now live! Effective immediately for all Worlds, all damaged units (except Vanguard) will now gradually restore lost hit points. Currently we've set this to be approximately 10% of their total health per day for Classic Worlds. We'll be watching and tuning this very carefully over the coming days to make sure it feels balanced. This healing rate will be increased to 10x for Speed Worlds. 'Boost healing' that will burn resources is WIP but will require more time as it needs UI adaptations.
- Units will only heal while 'resting'. A unit is considered to be resting while not assigned any mission. Guards posted at an external destination are on an active mission therefore are not resting.
- While selecting units to be sent on a mission, the game will pick the units with the most health first. So consider selecting smaller increments for battle if you want your wounded to rest up.
- Resting units that are sent on missions will have their healing timer reset so be mindful of their healing tick intervals:
- Melee - 1 tick per 12h.
- Ranged - 1 tick per 24h.
- AoE - 1 tick per 24h.
- Siege - 1 tick per 3h.
- Coloniser - 1 tick per 3h.
